I want to second that this is worth a try. That's exactly the problem my
Asteroids cocktail had. Much easier to fix or replace that then get into
board work. Another way of sort-of doing the same thing is to test the
board in another known working game (you could even plug directly into an
Asteroids just for testing the board for sound). If you get the same
results, then it is the board.
