Ok, I've swapped all the AM2901 chips (and the POKEY) with those from the
working Battlezone AUX board... problem still there. I've tried shifting the
chips in their sockets with no result. I also traded all the PROMS with those
from the working board. Still have the same problem.
One other thing to note. If the game is put in play mode (spot killer on),
the start button is lit solid (instead of blinking since I have it on free
play). If I press the start button I hear the engine rumble for about 5
seconds and then it cuts out. Trying to fire during these 5 seconds does not
result in a firing sound (as it would if the game is playing blind).
I have a feeling I might know what might have caused this, but don't know
where else to look. I had the game set up so that it comes on by closing the
front coin door. I'm thinking that when I moved I stupidly didn't lock the
coin door shut and it slammed a few times - possibly causing a spike that
fried something.
Any other ideas on what to check or what could be causing the symptom I
described above?
Also, just wondering, what is the pot in the middle of the AUX board for? And
does anyone have a spare set of schematics they want to sell?
