Is the spot killer on? It seems to me that it should be if only half of the display is being used, but I could be wrong here. Assuming that I'm right (never a good idea), if the spot killer is on, its probably a problem with an input into a DAC (I'm guessing), or a DAC itself. If the spot killer is off, I would guess the monitor is to blame.

Whatever it is, you should verify the voltages on the monitor and the pcb's.
