I had a similar problem on a star wars with a WG in it.
It would draw half way up the top half of the screen, then wrap back around
to the middle. (the top of the screen ended up back near the center)
Replacing the deflection transistor fixed it.
(I asked one of my EE professors about it and the best answer he could
provide was that sometimes transistors will have strange and unpredictable
behavior when they get old)

Subject: VECTOR: Tempest video problem
I have a friend with a Tempest which has a strange video problem. The
monitor is a WG6101. The image is missing from the left side of the
monitor (actually the upper half of the un-rotated monitor). The strange
part is that instead of the normal deflection transistor problem, the
missing left half is folded over on top of the right half. The vectors
themselves look normal except for the folding problem... Any ideas?
Thanks.
Rich
