REVENGE-2

Thanx to everybody who replied on this subject.

i feel i should elaborate on a couple of points.
first.
I did not mean to just xerox the original stuff,
i dont want to duplicate all the design-faults in the old stuff!
I meant to design the boards from scratch almost,Using the latest parts.
so that they fit inplace of the originals
(same connectors and screwholes in the same places etch)
(( I sure as hell would-not use the same transistors that WG did!))

second.
the ht-box.
you CAN use just-about any LOPT in the ht box because in a monitor(pc) or a tv set the LOPT supplys many different voltages.
in a vector design we are only interested in the ht winding.
if tempest needs 24Kv and a 20" tv uses 24Kv then the tv LOPT will do just fine.
you just have to check the schematic of the tv for the correct pinouts and input voltage/frequency(if not a tv).

to make an ht box you need a LOPT with the correct output voltage.
a free-running oscillator of the correct frequency & a voltage regulator to drive it.
THAT'S ALL!!!

I WILL NOT PAY WINTRON MORE FOR A LOPT THAN I PAY FOR A TV-SET!

One final point - reliabillity.
try to avoid using electrolytic caps wherever possible, and where there is no option use hi-temp low impedance types.
phillips transformers are cheap - $15 for a replica from Konig/HR and they last.
