Re: Tech: Battlezone Vectors Everywhere

Update:

I pulled the PCBs yesterday. The Pokey on the smaller PCB was severely
deteriorated. Three legs stayed in the socket when I removed the chip and
several others were almost rusted off as well. So, I replaced the socket
with machine scoket strips. And pulled a pokey from a semi-working Centipede
PCB. I also reflowed the solder to both sides of the interconnect.

The game now plays! Or, I should say, is playable. The game will start,
sounds is present, and you can see the tanks and other objects on the
screen. The picture is still messed up. Here are the symptoms...

- Lines of text still stair-step down and to the right
- Everything on the monitor seems to be crunched vertically
- Certain items are still drawn in the wrong place
-- Mountains appear at random elevations
-- The moon still floats below ground level
- The Tanks and various other objects appear to change scale (and not always
X and Y at the same time) at random times.

Any other suggestions?

John R. suggested swapping out the vector RAM. Are these available
somewhere? Does Clay have them?

Thanks!
