If I recall, I had three-conductor 10ga pulled (blk, wht, grn - or something
like that). The 3rd wire went to the grounding blocks in the breaker panel.
  I've got a bunch of audio/video stuff running off of it and I haven't had
any problems with it-- I also haven't noticed it being and "better" than the
rest of the house, but it looks neat. Impresses the locals. ;-)
