Hello fellas, I got a Star Wars for my vector collection. This is the first
Amplifone monitor I have ever worked on. I fixed the deflection pcb. I had
the dreaded red flyback on the HV PCB. Even though I rung it, and it is ok, I
repleced it with a new Wintron. My +24 and -24 are all there, the 555 timer
is working as far as I know, I tested it with my Fluke freq counter. I think
it was clocking around 22. Anyway, I keep blowing BU406D's like crazy, 10 to
be exact. What could be keeping doing this? The "mystery can" maybe? There is
a boxy looking cap that might be it. I am just not sure. Why did ATARI add
the resistor shunts at the 24 volt regs? The load seems to get diverted to
those as they get cooking hot. Any info would be a great help. By the way I
have the green pcb.
Charles
