Ooh.... Cool. I really want to see it. I'm definately going to CA Extreme
next year. (I haven't missed one since 1998 anyway, but I'm making my calendar
now! :-)
But I just had a nasty thought.... Is putting MAME on CNN a good idea?
MAME's quasi-legal status derives from the fact that it's not distributed
with ROM images, and only those with lawful ownership of the games can
play them. Things like big public displays of MAME might bring enquiries
from the owners of the intellectual property. I tend to doubt that any
of them are all that interested in the integrety of their vector lineup,
abandoned for better than 15 years now. But then again, Bally has been
relicensing Atari classics like mad recently, and Tempest/Asteroids/SpaceDuel
may be among the next batch. They may want to assert their rights to the
name/concept, if not the game proper.
