Hey Rob. I've seen a few cases where people have cut vents in the cover
for the high voltage cage on the WG6100. I can't say whether or not it's a
great idea, due to some people's findings (Mark, or John? or I'm not sure
who it was, now) that removing this cover can sometimes cause interference
in the picture - I would assume cutting it may have a similar effect.

The Tempest to Major Havoc conversion includes a fan that mounts in the
back door, immediately behind the deflection board. It's an exhaust
fan. It seems to me the parts it would be drawing any amount of air across
would be the deflection transistors.

Hope that gives you some ideas...
