If its got the true cinematronics monitor in it then the manual suggests that
the brightnes pot CAN go bad. Also it suggests checking around the pot to make
sure the connections are good. Naturally that wasn't my problem -- one of the
gates in the 7406 (the chip in the monitor) had bit the dust..
