David,
As Cosmic Chasm is being talked about on RGVAC I can across this passage this
morning that may be useful to you:
The hardware that CC runs on is different than any other
cinematronics game, and there were no other games
made using
this hardware except for Centuri's Aztarac. It looks like
Cinematronics had big plans for it though, because
there are
unpopulated parts of the board that say "control
panel #1
trackball," and "control panel #2 trackball." so it
looks like it
was made to support a cocktail mode too. It connects
to the
game through a gigantic edge connector (top), and a seperate
connector provides video output to the monitor
(left). The new
board was designed for easy conversions also. The
game ROMs
are all on a separate card that plugs into the
botton board, and
the sound ROM is also on a removable card on the top board (it is visible on
the right side
of the board, the connector is blue)
So it may just be a rom swap - but other people here would know better.
The website this is from is: http://idt.net/~mayday19/video/cosmicchasm.html
It'd be cool if you could do a multigame.
Cheers
MacMan
