Hello,
I've had a wierd problem in a SW boardset that I just fixed. When the
boardset was cold, I'd get matrix errors in test mode that would gradualy fix
as the boardset warmed up. (This usually would take about 15min) In play
mode (cold) , no stars, and stray vectors all over scaling objects such as
ships, towers, etc.
I was thinking, "this has to be a mathbox problem...". Changed mathbox
proms, checked continuity on all mathbox sockets, and looked at related
componets in the matrix section. Still no luck. So, I get out the cold spray,
and hit the matrix ic's after the boardset was warmed up and showed no matrix
errors.
Finally, my matrix errors start showing when I chill the 74LS00 at 8D. I
change the driver, and this solves the problem. I am wondering why I was
getting matrix errors from this; I thought the LS00 here just drove the 12mhz
clock to the state machine?? Also, has anyone ever seen this problem with the
LS00 at 8D before?
Thanks,
Michael Kelley
