Naturally they are installed to reduce radio frequency interference.
Typically, excessive RFI will cause problems/interference w/ cordless
phones, portable communicators (walkie-talkies), and related wireless
products, microwave oven controllers (and similar sensitive IC controllers),
garage door openers, radio controlled equipment, etc.
You may not notice the effects if you don't have these types of devices in
your home, but your neighbors may. I recommend running the games w/ all RF
inhibitors/filters in place.
Finally, arcade games are not constructed or FCC licensed for residential
use -- meaning if you were to get 'caught' by the Feds, you may have to
remove ALL of you games. (It is a long shot, I know, but it is still a
possibility -- especially if you cause lots of RF interference for your
neighbors...)
