The extra lines (and dot in the center of the screen) means that the brightness in the monitor is too high. Try adjusting the brightness and/or contrast knobs.
The deflection boards in these B&W vector monitors are famous for developing bad solder joints over time, so you may want to examine yours (with the power off!) for same.
Another collection of bad solder joints: the cable connector between CPU board and auxiliary board. Reflowing those may solve your intermittent problem.
Also try cleaning the edge connectors of the circuit boards, where the cable harness plugs in.
