You need to reverse your perspective here. You should be shocked that a program
acts so horribly while trying to display a valid file format. ;-)

Running Quicktime? I'm surprised your machine runs at all...(I guess it doesn't
when trying to display .TIF's eh? ;-)

I'm not the biggest supporter of Windows on earth, but I can guarantee you it's
not Windows crashing your machine, it's Quicktime.

The first thing Quicktime does is register itself as the default viewer for
everything. The second thing it does is crash when it tries to display anything.
This has been my experience. It's second only to Realplayer which has to be
worst use of RAM in the history of programming.

It's too bad, Quicktime has some cool virtual formats, now if they can only hire
some, programmers that know Windows, they might have a decent product someday.
I swear they're running some kind of Macintosh emulator on Windows, to run
Quicktime.

Quicktime should be used for .MOV files only. It's really all it understands.

This is probably getting way off topic. You should download some of the
suggested programs and give them a try and see which one you like. I'm sure
they're all decent programs. (They at least can all display a CCITT Fax 4
compressed .TIF file.)
