Richard,
********

I had no idea, however will take your word on that
as I myself can not say that I have ever witnessed
such an event, guess I have been real lucky, eh ?

As for these HV's dying often, so to speak, any reccomendation
on what if anything which can be done to slow this down,
other than not leaving the Unit (Game) on all the time ?

Would turning Down the HV help any at all ?

Arcadius........ :-)

Arcadius,

WG 6100 HVT's do die more often than people think. I have several bad ones
right here. Cracked wide open, melted, and spewing blue arcs of HV !

Steve,
******

I would be interested in the Picture of this Unit.

Also and if I read you correctly, the HT LEAD(Red Wire)
Is Damaged. How about the Transformer Itself, any Cracks
or Physical Damage on the Unit ???

If it is Only the HT Lead, then perhaps it can be replaced ???

However how you would do this, I am not sure of, since I myself
have never attempted to even Remove one, assuming that this is possible.

Perhaps there is a Way to Insulate the HT Lead so the SPARK(s) will
Not Jump, but again, not sure what you could use to do this.

 Arcadius.......... :-)

Yep, I think I have cracks/fissures (whatever a fissure may be!). There is
also pitting on the metal cage where the sparks jump to the case.

I have cleaned the unit, the discolouration near the HT lead is not dirt but
I presume the location from which the spark jumps!

I have a picture if anyone would like to take a look and vote on whether I
could sell it as untested on ebay ;-)

Where do I go from here to get this working?

If you look closely (or now maybe not so closely) you'll probably see
cracks/fissures/etc on the transformer.. Not having HV coming out of it
is pretty much an indication of toastage. Sometimes you see the beginnings
of the flashes (internal shorting) -- some people have suggested HV putty
but that never seems to work for very long (except in some cases)..
