Mark,
^^^^^
First of all Thanks, will look at the CPU BOARD
first then go from there.
Also one last thing on this, topic, do you
or anyone for that matter, know if I can actually
and safely hook up the X / Y OUTPUTS from the G-80 CARD(See Below)
to a SCOPE or a Small 4" by 4" X/Y Black and White Monitor
and just leave the Red Green Blue Wires Disconnected ???
==============================================================
Numbered counting down from the top. This connector normally has
2 wires of the same color, and a bare wire for the Shield wire.
1 ----- Y
2 ----- Shield
3 Empty
4 ----- X
==============================================================
I do not want to Blow anything on the X/Y Boards so want to be sure.
Arcadius..........

I have no idea about pin numbers; Sega didn't really do a good job with
labeling the board pins or connector pins or keying the connectors...my FAQ
covers the correct hookup for these. All I know is for 4-pin sound
connectors, ground/shiled wires go nearest the card cage.

One end of resistor goes to leg 3 of 10k pot...the other end goes to the
shielding/gnd

Does not sound good, something is wrong; probably not the sound board,
though. More likely the CPU or XY pair are causing a problem. Make sure
the voltages are all good.

This is regular behavior for test mode, though seeing the picture would
help...

This should be covered in my Sega XY FAQ:
http://www.enteract.com/~jenison/mars/faq/SegaXY.FAQ

Sounds like you have it correct.

I haven't ever hooked up a Sega XY set to a WG6100, but I would suspect the
necessary info would be in this document:
