Re: beating the flaming G-80 horse

I've always replaced the -5, +5, -12 and +12 VDC lines in my Sega games with a
small switching power supply. I keep the old G-80 in place and leave the 6.3
VAC and audio lines connected to it. For the lines you're changing to the new
PS, just clip the wires on the old G-80 connector and use wire nuts to splice
them onto the corresponding wires on your new PS. You end up with two power
supplies sitting side-by-side, but if your switching PS is small enough, you
can mount everything very neatly on that big wooden platform.

The audio and AC sections of the G-80 are reasonably reliable, so this
procedure should solve all your Sega XY power problems.
