WG6100 monitor woes

Ever since I got a WG6100 monitor a month ago it has given me no end of
problems - these have all now been fixed plus it's been re-capped and all
mods applied to make it more 'bullet proof'. Also added an LV2000.

However, hard as I try I simply cannot fix the single remaining fault, as
follows:

The display 'judders' vertically (it moves up and down as much as half an
inch) and intermittently displays short spikes which can sometimes look
like electricity is crackling along some of the vectors.

Some 'short' (3 and 2 MBytes movies) of the fault when in test mode can be
found here:

http://www.morris0.fsnet.co.uk/PB200005.MOV
http://www.morris0.fsnet.co.uk/PB200004.MOV

These were taken at a time when it was really bad, but it's not always
quite so severe.

The fault is definitely on the monitor as if I connect up the X and Y
outputs to my scope in XY mode, the image is rock steady. Have also tried
other boardsets with the same results.

Seeing as the fault is only in the Y axis, then presumably that nails down
the fault to that part of the circuitry that specifically differentiates
between X and Y, ie the deflection board?

There's also a very faint sound of arcing from the HV when it warms up
which I haven't yet managed to track down, but I would imagine that's not
related?

Would welcome some feedback on this please as I'd really like to fix it.

Thanks,
Phil
