OR uses a potentiometer - continuous.
The 10k pot spins and when it reaches a certain point goes from 10k to 0. There's only 2 wires on the OR pot - too.
Somewhere there was an article about how the ship is flaky at one point in the rotation. The guy had built a new encoder board to deal with the problem. I can't find the info now.
