I'm sure they sometimes do die. I'm sure if you put, say, house-current
through it, it would die. Contrast with the stock LV that, even after
upgrading componants will just die through normall use, and I simply would
not waste any time trying to trouble-shoot the stock circuit. The odds are
not in your favor.
Technically there have been three revs -- I have the earliest boards, and
the initall standoffs were single-hole, and the solder would come loose.
There was a small modification where the stand-off wires now bent around and
were soldered twice. Then the new rev 2 board was just a switch to SMD
componants, when I think the old through-hole parts were discontinued.
