i was looking at the hv on these years ago, i think i decided that any old small tv transformer could be made to work because only the hv is used and no secondary supply's are needed.
therefore it's just a matter of getting the input correct for the desired output.

maybe look in dumps and junkshops for old b/w tv's with 12v input - those usually have low-voltage input on the transformer.
