Well if the sockets are still good, but are tarnished (chips can be the
same way). I mix up some water and Tarn-x. Remove the Eproms, and use a
tooth brush to scrub the socket contacts clean, as well as the Eproms. I
see alot of chips and sockets with black tarnish on them, and it get's rid
it. Not sure of any long term effects, like I said I've been going on two
years without issue.
Sockets that have lost tension, just need to be replaced. I think the
reason everyone uses Brazes Kit is because they can replace 1 40 pin
socket, and have high score save functions. It is the simplest solution.
