It should be easy to replace you asteroids tube.
Since its a b/w monitor, there's no shadow mask, so there is no purity or
convergence to worry about, only aligning the yoke so the image appears
where you want it.

So what do you get with the tube ? Does it come with yoke/deflection
coils
or the magnetic slip rings assembly ? I am just curious how involved it
would
be to replace the tube, dealing with purity, convergence, aligning of
the
yoke, etc...I have an Asteroids cocktail with bad burn and have thought
about replacing the tube.

Richardson Electronics is about an hour from where I work. I've
picked up a
tube for an Asteroids Deluxe cocktail from them before. If we
would have
thought of this earlier, maybe we could have set something up
with the people
who are in town for the pinball expo this weekend and they could
have brought
some back to their respective areas. Oh well, just a thought.
