Devastating news on the Atari promo videos...ughhh!!!!!

Hello,

Well, I'm pissed. I talked to the seller on the phone twice this week, I
even asked him if he wanted me to send him a postal M.O. in advance. He said,
"don't worry about it, I'll just get cash from you on Friday."
So, today I arrive to pick up the box of beta tapes. The seller is not
there, but his attendant is. I tell him "I'm here to pick up a box of tapes
from Gene, here is his $100."
Attendant :"uhhhh, somebody picked them up last night."
Me: "I spoke to Gene twice this week about them, I said I was coming
today to get them with his $100"

Well, after speaking with Gene, he said it was his fault, he thought the
other guy was me. The other guy only gave him $50 so far, and said he'd be
back in about a week with the other $50 "when he gets paid..." Gene said
he'd let me know if he is able to get the tapes back from the guy. I'm not
counting on it.

I asked Gene how the other guy found out about the tapes, and he
figures the attendant told him what they were. The other guy originally was
there to get some jamma boards. The attendant allowed him to take the tapes
for the $50 because he used all his other money to buy the jamma crap.

Sorry for the story, but I'm very depressed. If I'm ever able to get
the tapes, everyone can have them for the cost of the tape and postage after
they are preserved. I'm hoping if they ever get into anybody's hands from the
list, they'll do the same.
I'm wondering if they will ever turn up, and if the jerk who got them
will actually preserve them, or figure "hell, they're on beta! I just ruined
my VCR trying to play one!!"

Looks like we loose,

a dpressed mk
