Just to bring it up again... I actually did a Cinematronics->Wells Gardner
design a while back. It's basically an updated version of the "space
fortress" board that Al has on Spies. It takes the ribbon cable from a
Cinemat (vector) boardset and spits out GO-5/19V2000 type outputs. I like
the idea of using this with a GO-5 (or new replacement) so that you need
only stock one type of monitor for B/W vector games. (Also, having +5V
digital stuff on the same PCB that's moving 150V B+ voltages and ~20KV Anode
voltages just freaks me out. ;-)

I keep telling myself I'll finish product-izing it when the Cinemat
Multigame is done (nudge-nudge, wink-wink Mark).

As for reproducing vector monitors or whatever, as you all probably gather,
I'm all for it. I've started on a couple of occasions doing a generic HV
cage using a replacement GO-7 flyback as the basis, but chickened out for a
couple reasons-- on the technical side I'm much weaker at analog than
digital (who isn't anymore? Quiet, Zonn/Roger! ;-), but I also got a little
freaked out from the liability standpoint.

If my replacement 137179 board were to explode in the most spectacular
fashion probable, the worst thing that would happen would probably be a
little smoke and chip-pieces in the cabinet. If you licked the chips while
it was on it probably wouldn't do much more than taste funny and tingle
(don't try it!).

BUT... New vector monitor parts could start a pretty good fire and/or
possibly kill someone (granted, probably as a result of operator error, but
that doesn't have much meaning in a country where an electric iron carries a
warning "do not use while sleeping"). Sad to say, but in the
litigation-happy USA anyone attempting this would be wise to get a couple
million dollar umbrella insurance policy just in case. (I doubt anyone here
would go after anyone else due to an accident, but it's the 2nd, 3rd, and
4th owners that could really make your life hell if something bad happened
and they decided to extract their pound of flesh in the form of a lawsuit.)
