It has come to my notice that 'some people' are taking serious liberty's withe the public with regard to the price of videogames.
in perticular, vector games and there parts.
I see no reason why we cant reproduce replacement monitor pcb's.
they contain no custom parts, we have the schematics and i doubt people would take any legal action over copywrite.
I could easily reproduce a vector-monitor pcb with modern 'upgrades' to increase reliability, and flood the market, thereby helping ALL vector-game owners and at the same time screwing all those greedy bastards who post on E-Bay.
at the moment i am only posting my thoughts on this subject, but if it gets any worse i WILL reproduce H/V boxes using cheap off-the-shelf line-output transformers from domestic tv-sets (probably phillips for cost reasons).
phillips compatible transformers cost about Ј10 in u.k. (16us$), an entire H/V box could be made (excluding metal-box) for about $30 (48$) that would be cheap and easy to fix and be very reliable.
the only part i dont think could be second-sourced is the CRT.
(Monitors in public areas have special-thick glass on the front - domestic tv tubes would not be legal in all countrys.)
I would apreciate any feedback on this subject as it seems with people like Clay-Cowgill making replacements for custom I.C.s this may be the next logical step!
