I'll go for supporting this, after seeing far too many AR2's go up in smoke,
somebody suggested this to me, and as far as i'm concerned, shorting the
pins is the best thing you can do (disabling the sense). It has saved no end
of fried edge connectors, and worrying plumes of smoke out of a cab..
In fact most AR2 boards i have gone to fix, i simply replace the 2n3055, and
short the pins, that is usually enough to revive any AR2..

yeah, sometimes can get away without replacing it at all if you are shorting
the pins (disabling the sense) ..
