RE: Amplifone Tubes

Hey Folks,

Thanks a bunch for your input. The monitors are 19" (from a Star
Wars and Major Havoc). I have 2 complete boardsets and an extra deflection
board. The complete set I have has a tube with a nice big hole in the
middle (viva the electron), but I have that yoke. However, the other
boardset I bought off of ebay (for my Major Havoc), no Yoke there.

In the spirit of what suggested below....

Hey John Robertson! Got any extra Amplifone Yokes? :-) Please? ;-)

Cheers
Andy

19" or 25"??

Here is a previous post of mine regarding a source for 25" amplifone
tubes:

My original tube was Rauland model A63AAX00X (the "00" is actually
zero, zero, not alpha if you are searching the web). A drop in rebuilt
replacement is available for $154 from Clark Electronics. $40 cheaper
if you have a suitable tube to exchange. (with no phosphur burn - just
dead guns) Their model number is A63ABZ26X. See:

http://www.jps.net/clarkeel/cross.htm

If you are willing to do a little experimentation, I suspect you could
find a dead 25" TV from the 80's with a good tube for $20 or so and
gamble that it has the same pinout. (make sure before you plug it in!)
I've been doing this with 19" TV's and have had great success repairing
raster monitors so far. It turns out most color 19" color TV's from
that era had the same CRT pinout as the G07 and WG4600/4900 monitors!

I believe Clark also sells the M48AAW00X 19" tube, but it is something
like $180... :-( (call them). It costs more because it is a medium
resolution (rather than low res).

You might also try Richardson electronics. www.rell.com
They aren't cheap, but they do sell the 19VATP22, which I believe is the
same tube as the M48AAW00X.

Lastly, if you can live with a 19" low res tube, just try raiding one
from a TV of that era. Make sure it has the same pinout. You'll still
need to score an amplifone yoke. You might try John Robertson, he may
have a couple laying around... :-)

Good luck,
Noel
