I've been using mine with the cast nylon roller for almost a year and it's
held up great. No measurable wear at the contact points and it rolls as
smooth as it did the day it was assembled. Also no apparent shavings or
anything in the base. Still waiting to see the final version...

They are still "in production". I think Mark's been pre-occupied with
old and new projects.
The original roller stock was green translucent, and could therefore be
backlit. The only comparable roller stock found to date is green
oil-impregnated cast nylon which is opaque. It is rather nice though...
