Simple Question about Armor Attack

I know that at one time Cinematronics updated Star Castle to make it a
little more challenging to the player.

Did they do the same thing with Armor Attack? I've owned two armor
attacks and my most recent one seems to get harder to play faster. Was
there a modification in the roms? I think I prefer the slower paced
one.
