Re: Battlezone sound

There are two general reasons for this - both involve the AR board. Its
either the A (audio) or R (power regulator) :) If its a power issue (check
the voltage outputs on the AR), your best bet is to buy a rebuild kit from
Bob Roberts. If its a problem with the audio, its most likely the
amplifier (the IC mounted on the side of the heatsink with 5 pins). I
forget the name of it, but Bob Roberts carries them as well.

I know of at least one person who always rebuilds AR's whenever he buys
Atari games. There are a lot of electrolytic caps on them that can easily
dry up from a lot of use. I typically rape other AR boards for parts (I
don't like to order parts for some reason)

Ok, I now have a working BZ caberet (see message thread from earlier this
week). However, the sound amplifier is not working properly now. I can
hear the game sounds from the speaker very faintly and there is a lot of
static. The volume control only slightly increases the game sounds, from
nothing to barely audible.

I'm assuming there is something wrong with my amplifier PCB, how does one
go about troubleshooting these?

Thanks for being patient with my very basic questions :)
