Subject: VECTOR: Battlezone sound
> Ok, I now have a working BZ caberet (see message thread from earlier this week). However, the sound amplifier is not working properly now. I can hear the game sounds from the speaker very faintly and there is a lot of static. The volume control only slightly increases the game sounds, from nothing to barely audible.

Lick your finger and place it on the contacts of the volume control.
If you get a loud hum - the amplifier is ok.
it sounds ok by your description anyway, check the volume pot and it's soldering, together with the connectors and soldering on the AR2 pcb.
IF you dont get a loud hum with the finger test and can find nothing wrong then change the amplifier chip.
I think it was a TDA2002 but you should check before buying one.
Also if it is a TDA2002 you should replace it with a TDA2003.
